Apex Releases Red Anodized Action Enhancement Trigger For M&P Shield

LOS OSOS, Calif. – In response to strong customer feedback, Apex Tactical Specialties announces the release of a red anodized version of the popular Apex Action Enhancement Trigger for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol.

Leading up to and during this year’s NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Nashville, Apex showcased samples of the new Red M&P Shield Action Enhancement Trigger, featuring a black contrasting center mounted pivoting safety, asking customer for their input. Based on the positive feedback Apex has added the trigger to its growing catalog of aftermarket performance upgrade parts.

“The response to the new red M&P Shield trigger from customers was just great. The Shield is a very popular pistol and during the NRA Show we sold out of all our Shield trigger kits midway through the second day, with many visiting our booth specifically requesting the red version we had on display,” explained Scott Folk, vice president at Apex Tactical Specialties.

“Thanks to the great feedback from our customers and those visiting our booth during the NRA Show, Apex is pleased to add the new Red M&P Shield Action Enhancement Trigger to our product line.”

100-056 – Apex Shield Duty/Carry Action Enhancement Red Trigger and Kit
100-057 – Apex Shield Action Enhancement Red Trigger

This kit is a combination of the Apex Shield Carry Action Enhancement Kit and the Apex Shield Action Enhancement Trigger. The Trigger Kit directly replaces the factory hinged trigger with a solid aluminum trigger body which reduces pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20%. It features a smooth face with a center mounted pivoting safety that maintains factory safety values.

The Apex Shield Carry Kit was designed to provide the M&P Shield pistol owner a smooth, consistent trigger pull that is approximately 2 lbs lighter (based on variations in factory tolerances) with the advantages of shorter over-travel and more detectable trigger reset. The kit itself is engineered to be drop-in and should not require further gunsmithing. However, armorer or gunsmith installation of the Ultimate Striker Block (USB) into the Shield slide is strongly recommended**.

The Shield Action Enhancement Trigger Kit directly replaces the factory hinged trigger with a solid aluminum trigger body. The trigger reduces Trigger pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20%. It features a smooth face with a center mounted pivoting safety. The center mounted pivoting safety bar prevents unintended operation by creating a trigger block that will not disengage unless the shooter places their finger directly on the trigger face. The smooth face trigger causes the shooter to place their finger on the center line of the trigger and encourages trigger manipulation directly in line with the bore axis. The Shield Action Enhancement Trigger is perfect for use with the M&P Shield already equipped with the Apex Shield Duty/Carry Kit.

will this trigger work on the shield 45 caliber?

  6. paul - September 21, 2016 @ 7:57 am

No, it will not work in the Shield 45.

  7. Gail - February 7, 2017 @ 9:48 am

How do I get one of these for my .380 and how much is it? Thank you

  8. paul - February 8, 2017 @ 10:22 am

We do not make a trigger for the .380 S&W models.

  9. Myles - July 7, 2017 @ 3:42 pm

Do you all make a trigger kit for the .45 Shield yet?

  10. paul - August 11, 2017 @ 10:18 am

    Yes. Part# 100-160 or 100-161.

  11. Steve - September 19, 2017 @ 7:36 pm

Will this work with the performance center shield and does it require any modification?
The description states it reduces trigger pull by 2lbs. Seeing as the performance center shield has a enhanced trigger how would this mod affect it.

  12. paul - September 21, 2017 @ 11:22 am

It will absolutely improve the trigger in the Performance Center pistol. You’ll want to install the Trigger & Duty/Carry Kit for the best overall improvement.

I have one S&W M&P CORE 40 performance center, and need to buy just the trigger in red color anodized action enhancement for my CORE 40.What exactly number of item can used for made the order. Appreciate.

  15. paul - February 6, 2018 @ 9:04 am

This trigger is for the M&P Shield, not the M&P CORE. For the CORE models you would have to order the Flat-Faced Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit. This requires the FULL KIT and not just a trigger. It will not work with just the trigger body installed.
