Q) What is the Apex Hard Sear and what can it do for my M&P?
A) The Apex Hard Sear is a direct replacement for the factory sear, it's essentially a Do-it-yourself trigger job. It's precision CNC machined from A2 Tool Steel and heat treated to exacting standards for maximum durability after being carefully deburred and inspected.
The principal advantage of the Apex Hard Sear is that it's machined from solid stock as opposed to being Injection Molded. Critical fire control function parts such as the Sear in the M&P are best off made from solid materials that can be properly heat treated.
The functional surfaces of the Apex hard sear have been re-engineered to yield better leverage, reduce over travel and reduce reset between shots. Boasting a 4.5 lb drop in trigger pull weight, the Apex Hard Sear is the perfect drop in part for the home gun smith, tinkerer and serious shooter.

Q) What is the Apex Ultimate Striker Block Kit and what does it do?
A) The Apex Ultimate Striker Block Kit contains the following parts:
1 Apex Ultimate Striker Block
1 Apex Ultimate Striker Block Spring
1 Talon Tactical Rear Sight Installation Tool.
The Apex Ultimate Striker Block is manufactured with state of the art CNC machining equipment to produce the absolute best product possible with the smoothest surface finish available. They're heat treated to maximize service life and safety values.
The Engagement surface on the bottom of the Ultimate Striker Block was engineered to produce a smooth trigger bar pickup, thus reducing "bump" in trigger uptake. The compound radius on the engagement face allows for maximum engagement with the trigger bar extension to lift the Striker Block out of the way of the Striker while firing the pistol. This also allows the trigger bar extension to bypass the engagement surface on the Striker Block while resetting between shots, eliminating false resets and increasing felt trigger reset.

Q) What is the Duty/Carry Spring Kit and what does it do?
A) The Duty/Carry Spring Kit consists of two springs, an Apex Duty Sear Spring and an Apex Duty Rate Trigger Return Spring. The purpose of this kit is to give shooters the ability to fine tune their trigger pull by utilizing any combination of springs. The Apex Duty/Carry Spring Kit will add approximately 1.5 lbs to the trigger pull on the M&P Pistol.
------------------------------------------------------
Q) How well does the Duty Rate Trigger Return Spring Hold up?
A) The Apex Duty Rate Trigger Return Spring was engineered for a service life of greater than 1,000,000 cycles. But that wasn't good enough for us, we wanted better for our customers. After fabrication, we had the springs Shot Peened to reduce stress and fatigue as well as maximize service life. Shot Peening a Coiled Extension spring like our Duty Rate Trigger Return Spring increases it's expected service life by a factor of 10x. Which means our spring has an expected rating of nearly 10,000,000 cycles.
You can find out more about the Shot Peening process at http://www.metalimprovement.com/shot_peening.php

Q) Are your Drop in parts easy to install?
A) Our Drop in parts are designed to direct replacements for your factory parts. Which means you don't have to modify anything. All you have to be able to do is remove the factory part and replace it with the Apex part/parts. No opening up holes to fit springs, no grinding away at your frame or other critical parts and no trial and error fitting. Our parts were engineered specifically with the idea of the average Do-it-yourself user in mind.

Q: What will the DCAEK do for my Massachusetts complaint M&P?
A: Yes, the DCAEK parts will work in your Mass. Compliant M&P. The only part of the DCAEK that does not work in the Mass. compliant guns is the Sear Spring. To make the trigger pull meet state requirements, Smith and Wesson made a larger diameter sear spring and plunger.
------------------------------------------------------
Q: What results can I expect from the DCAEK in my Mass. Compliant M&P
A: Installing everything from the DCAEK (except the Sear Spring) will normally yield a 6 to 6.5 lb trigger pull that is smooth and has plenty of positive trigger return pressure. Our Trigger Retur Spring is heavier than the standard factory spring, but lighter than the MA. Compliant spring.
------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is included in the Competition Spring kit and what does it do?
A: The Apex Competition Spring Kit consists of 3 springs, they are as follows:
- Apex Competition Sear Spring
- Apex Competition Trigger Return Spring
- Apex Competition Striker Spring
Installing the Apex Competition Spring kit along with the Apex Hard Sear and Ultimate Striker Block Kit will produce a trigger pull in the sub 3 lb range.
The Apex Competition Spring Kit is only recommended for use in competition/range only guns and is not recommended for use in any Duty, Carry or Defensive guns.
------------------------------------------------------
Q: What is the difference between the Apex Duty Carry Spring Kit and the Competition Spring Kit?
A: The Duty Carry Spring Kit is designed to increase trigger pull weight by increasing trigger return pressure as well as sear tension by way of custom engineered increased rate springs.
The
Competition Spring Kit reduces trigger pull weight by decreasing sear pressure, trigger return force and striker resistance by way of reduced tension Sear, Trigger Return and Striker Springs.
Combining
Apex Duty Carry,
Apex Competition and factory springs gives the M&P owner the ability to Mix and Match their springs to achieve their desired trigger pull weight and feel ranging between < 3lbs and up to 6lbs.
