Apex Announces Trigger Upgrades for M&P Shield 45

PEORIA, Ariz. – Apex Tactical Specialties announces that it is expanding its line-up of aftermarket drop-in parts for the M&P Shield with the upcoming release of an Apex Action Enhancement Trigger and Apex Duty/Carry Kit for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 45.

The new aluminum Apex Action Enhancement Trigger for the Shield 45 reduces pre-travel and over-travel by approximately 20% and is a direct drop-in replacement for the factory polymer hinged trigger. The trigger body features a center-mounted pivoting safety which maintains factory safety values.

The Apex Duty/Carry Kit for the Shield 45 consists of an Apex Fully Machined Sear, Sear Spring, Trigger Return Spring and Striker Block Spring to provide a smooth uptake and reset while producing a trigger pull in the range of 5.0 to 5.5 lbs.

The new Apex Action Enhancement Trigger, part #100-160, and Apex Duty/Carry Kit, part #100-166, can be installed independently or combined (Apex Action Enhancement Trigger & Duty/Carry Kit, part #100-161) for the optimum performance upgrade. All three new parts will be available for purchase from ApexTactical.com late January, early February.

Dealers and distributors can order the new products for the M&P Shield 45 by contacting Apex at dealer@apextactical.com or calling (623) 322-0200.

Patiently waiting for this upgrade. Will you offer this in your thin blue line series, if so how soon? Retired LEO using the 45 Shield as daily carry.

Is this installable by a reasonably technical person or is a gunsmith recommended? I saw where for some of the Apex products a gunsmith was highly recommended. Thanks.

All our parts are designed to be user installable. Watch the install videos we’ve posted on YouTube to see how comfortable you are with the process.

I just ordered the Apex trigger kit for my 45 shield. I didn’t want to screw anything up so I had a local dealer install it for $60…not bad. Wow what a difference!! Crisp, clean, and the reset on this new trigger is fantastic. If you’re on the fence about this one don’t be! Totally worth the upgrade.

I just started looking into upgrading my 45 shield n the trigger of course will be the first upgrade but as far as personal/family defense, which is what I have it for of course, what would yall recommend be the next most meaningful upgrade to do to it? I would like a few points of view on this please, let me know what I should do…

Any freedom edition .45 trigger kits in the works yet? I saw other comments saying no, but figured I’d ask. Maybe if there’s enough demand…

  17. paul - December 19, 2017 @ 2:02 pm

No, just the black and Thin Blue Line versions are available.

  18. Rod Combs - February 3, 2018 @ 9:33 am

Bought the 100-161 Action Kit Wow !! this is so nice. Trigger is right there I would say 4 lbs. super quick reset. Apex did my 9mm Shield at there store however they do not install anymore. A good gunsmith can install instructions on goggle.
