Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit for Metal Frame M&P M2.0

Nothing compares to the performance that comes from the patented Apex Forward Set Trigger Kit. This kit is engineered to provide the M&P M2.0 pistol owner with a smooth, consistent trigger pull with the advantages of shorter over-travel and shortened trigger reset. Using a combination of the Apex springs and factory sear and trigger return springs allows the user to set the trigger pull weight within a range suitable for duty/carry down to a weight desired for competition.

Type 3 Trigger Differences

The Type 3 Trigger for the M&P M2.0 features a visually distinct design that sets it apart while maintaining the same excellent performance as our classic trigger. Features of the Type 3 triggers include:

• Chamfers at the front corners (classic trigger has a radius on the front corners)
  • This provides for a narrower trigger feel without mechanically changing the functional surfaces
• Additional decorative face cuts on the visible sides of the trigger
• Same performance as the classic line, just a different look

Drop Testing

These kits have been tested “Drop Safe” according to Apex’s Drop Test Protocol in each size and configuration of the M&P M2.0, for which this kit is specified to fit.

Removal of Over-Travel Stop in Metal Frame M&P M2.0 pistols (June 2025)

We recently noticed a change in the factory Over-Travel Stop (OT Stop) on the metal frame M&P M2.0 series pistols. 

Original Version: 

The original OT Stop on the Metal frame pistols was a polymer block with a cylinder on one face that had a split in it.  To remove the original OT stop, the user had to press the OT stop from the inside of the magwell with a pin punch. 

New Version: 

The new OT stop looks like the original but does not have the split in the cylinder.  There’s a Hex pocket for a 7/64” hex key and the body of the cylinder is threaded into the frame. 

To remove the new OT stop, the installer needs to do the following: 

1. Unload the pistol and remove any ammunition from the working area. 
2. Remove the slide from the frame and remove the fire control components from the frame. 
3. Remove the back strap from the frame. 
4. Accessing the back of the OT Stop through the back of the frame at the top of the back strap contact point, use a 7/64” Hex key and rotate the OT Stop Clockwise until the OT Stop is free of the frame. 

Reminder: When installing an Apex Forward Set Trigger Kit, the installer should remove and leave the OT Stop out of the frame.  The Apex trigger includes a fixed OT Stop which will interfere with the factory OT Stop if it’s left in place. 

The open space in the frame from the OT Stop being removed will NOT cause your pistol to get “more dirty” while firing. 

FAQs: 

Q: What’s different between this version of the Metal Frame kit, and the original release for the Aluminum Frame M2.0? 

A: Nothing. The Metal Frame kit we initially launched for the aluminum frame M2.0 pistols is the same as the kit we have on our site now.  If a customer has any of our 100-271 or 100-280 trigger kits (Any color), the kit will work in all metal frame M&P 2.0 variants on the market today. 

Q: What took so long? 

A: #1 lack of availability. Our Distributors had the HD series pistols fully allocated by the time they were launched, so we had to wait to get them. #2 We’re kinda obsessed with checking our stuff works as expected, and we needed to make sure it was safe.  We put our pistols through multiple drop tests from 6 feet onto concrete, and test fired them to our satisfactions before giving them the official stamp of approval.
