Factory Barrel vs. Apex Grade Barrel | Apex Tactical Specialties

We get asked about the difference between an Apex Grade Barrel and the Factory Barrel in the 9mm M&P. These two target graphics show you the difference – at 50 yards. Both were shot from a Ransom Rest to eliminate the human factor and test the mechanical accuracy of the OEM barrel versus ours. It's a big difference, and why we call the barrels ‪#‎ApexGrade‬.

There are no current plans for a 40S&W.

Awesome Performance - I installed the gunsmith fit barrel in a new 9L. I was able to get a hard fit in much less time than a gunsmith fit Kart barrel in a 1911. I can now shoot one hole groups off-hand similar to my 1911s and 2011s. I appreciate customer service and Randy verifying some of the fit dimensions before I started filing. I would love to see the gunsmith fit product extended to threaded barrels and other calibers.

I have two questions. One, are there future plans to bring out Apex Grade threaded barrels for the 5" M&P Pro and time frame? Two, would you expect any change in accuracy if I had the Apex Grade barrel installed and than magna-ported the barrel and slide? Thanks.

In our experience, magna-ports do not affect accuracy. They do tend to fog up the front sight and place carbon debris on the outside of the barrel and the matching slide cuts. They are also not as effective as a compensator. As for threaded barrels, we won't be offering one anytime soon.
