We've been working on updating our older installation videos and the latest to make it into the 21st century of video quality are those for the popular SDVE pistols from Smith & Wesson. Scott Folk, COO at Apex, walks you through the step-by-step process we use here at Apex to completely tear down the SDVE and reassemble it...with new Apex parts (natch).

just bought the spring and trigger and installed it on my sd9 but there was no sear spring in the kits - and there was a silver pin in each of the kits that was never mentioned in the above videos.

  The kit you received was manufactured over a year ago when the kits did not have a Sear Spring in them.
  
  The Silver pin is a slave pin to assist in re-assembly, but so few people used it, we removed it and added the sear spring.

Oh man, do I love this kit. Trigger pull went from 10 lb 2 oz to 5 lb 5 oz. S&W said they were afraid of accidental discharge so they made the trigger heavy. Too heavy, even when slowly squeezing I'd pull it left. I can tell a huge difference just dry firing. The videos are excellent. Love the part about putting the big hammer away. All you need is a baby hammer and the right punches. Roll of tape is stroke of genius. Everyone has that laying around. It's easy to sacrifice a $3 roll of tape to prevent marring up your pistol.

This is the action S&W should have used. The SD9VE is a solid gun that just needed a good trigger mechanism.

I stalled the spring kit along with a new Apex trigger. I love the new trigger pull after installation. The trigger pull is crisp and clean and the weapon function and accuracy has greatly improved. Great kit, would purchase again.

I just installed my new trigger kit and it is hands down a major improvement over the factory kit. I recommend it to anyone with a S&W SD9

Having trouble getting it to fire. I shaved some off of the back of the trigger and its not firing. Should I be afraid of taking too much off?

I can not get it to fire. I shaved some off of the back of the trigger and its not firing. Should I be afraid of taking too much off? Or should I just put the OEM trigger back in with the new springs?

Just installed the (apparently new) spring kit. Great. Videos were great. One of the previous question answered my question about the sear spring. I saw another video where you (Apex) said you don't recommend replacing the sear spring. I wet myself. Apparently you do recommend replacing it with the 'new' kit.
I recommend buying a few small magnets from Harbor freight or somewhere and let those hang on to the small springs and pins and such.
Really happy with the results. I have the magazine safety so I appreciate that you included it And I didn't have to adjust my trigger at all.
I polished the metal contact points and that makes a difference. I recommend you include just a few pointers in the video on where and which to polish.

I just got the sd40ve resently, ive always liked S&W,old school though I dont like or trust the plastic body's for durability. This trigger sucks!
Thanks Apex really love the trigger spring upgrade, well done video too..
What a difference just dry firing, can't wait to try it at the range!
